How To Spa
Answers to frequently asked questions on spa etiquette and what to expect.
Do I need to make spa appointments in advance?
To ensure availability of treatments and times, it is recommended that you schedule your appointments in advance.
Is there someone who will help me choose what services will be right for me?
Our spa attendants are there to assist you in planning the best spa experience that suits your individual needs.
May I request a certain Service Provider? May I request a male or female Service Provider?
Yes, of course! We will always do our best to book you with the Service Provider you prefer. Whether you choose a person of the same or opposite gender, all of our therapists are trained to drape sheets discreetly over areas of the body not involved with the treatment. We respect and protect your privacy at all times.
What if I am late for my appointment?
We suggest that you arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your first scheduled appointment so that you may enjoy our relaxation room, hot tub and eucalyptus steam room. Arriving late will simply limit the time for your treatment, potentially reducing its effectiveness and your pleasure. Your treatment will end on time so that the next guest is not delayed.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
Because your spa service time is reserved especially for you, we ask that you notify us at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule. Fees of 50% will be assessed for cancellations and rescheduled appointments without 24 hour notice as well as 100% of services will be assessed for “no shows.”
What forms of payment may I use for my Spa Services?
We accept all major credit cards, cash or Escape Day Spa & Boutique Gift Cards.
What, if anything, do I need to bring?
Escape has everything that you will need to enjoy your experience. During your visit you’ll receive a robe and slippers to wear between treatments and a locker for your personal belongings. Some amenities are provided for your convenience, however, if you need anything special please feel free to bring it with you.
May I wear my jewelry?
Please do not bring any valuables into the spa. It is also better during your treatments not to wear any jewelry.
May I wear makeup?
You are welcome to wear makeup, but it will be removed before certain treatments, such as facials. A private area is provided to reapply makeup, or an application of our fabulous Bare Essentials Mineral Makeup can be scheduled to complete your treatments.
Should I alert someone if I have any physical ailments, disabilities, or allergies?
Yes. You will be asked to complete a brief consultation form before your treatment. This form gives you the opportunity to inform your therapist if you have any special needs. Our therapists need to know this information to customize your treatment.
Also, when scheduling your appointment, please inform our spa attendant if you have any special needs we need to know about before you arrive.
Should I avoid visiting the spa if I am pregnant?
Not at all, though you may want to avoid some treatments such as wraps or deep tissue massages. Also, please notify our spa attendants of your pregnancy when booking your appointment. We offer a wonderful pregnancy massage with special support pads for your comfort.
May I ask a therapist or spa attendant to adjust certain things to increase my comfort?
Absolutely! Ask to adjust the lighting, temperature or music, for example, or the amount of pressure applied during your massage. We will do the best we can. Your comfort is of the utmost importance.
What do I wear during my spa treatment?
Most body treatments are enjoyed without clothing, however, if you prefer, undergarments may be worn. Please keep in mind that our therapists are trained to protect your privacy at all times. Most importantly, wear what is comfortable for you.
Am I supposed to tip my Therapist?
As in all services-related businesses, it is common practice to tip the person who has done a good job to the satisfaction of the customer. The rule of thumb in day spas is 15% – 20% of the cost of service. You may include this in your payment for services and use cash, credit card or gift card. You do not have to carry money around with you and worry about this while enjoying the spa facilities.
Are there any other general “Spa Rules” I should know?
During your visit, please keep in mind these simple tips that will allow you, as well as those around you, to reap the full benefits of the spa.
- First – Always respect other guests’ right to privacy and QUIET.
- Second – During your visit, close your eyes, focus your attention on breathing deeply, and allow yourself to relax as much as possible.
- Third – Consider your visit with us a date to sit back, relax and catch up with an old friend…..Yourself.
